Athletes

Whether you want to compete in boxing, Thai boxing, wrestling, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, submission grappling or mixed martial arts, the Kombat Arts Training Academy can help you achieve your goals. Our competitive program is designed to prepare athletes for both local and international competition.

Our coaches are always working to improve their own abilities through active participation in accredited coaching programs and seminars.

Much of our training philosophy comes from JC Santana of the Institute of Human Performance. Here are some truisms from his book, “Strength and Conditioning for the Modern Gladiator,” that resonate with us:

  • Combat is abusive, and training does not need to add to the trauma. Training should fortify the body, not tear it down.
  • Training requires strength and conditioning, techniques and tactics! All are equally important, but they don’t require equal physical effort. Not all sessions should be 100% all-out sparring or conditioning sessions!
  • Training is the stimulus and rest is the time in which the body adapts to the the stimulus. No rest = no adaptation.
  • It takes a team – not a dojo or gym – to develop a good combat athlete. This team includes physicians, athletic trainers, sport psychologists, several sport coaches and strength coaches.

Kombat Arts is a member of government-recognized regulating bodies including Boxing Ontario, Kickboxing Ontario and the Ontario Jiu Jitsu Organization. Our coaches are fully accredited and have completed their coaching certifications.

Whatever your competitive goals, our staff at Kombat Arts is trained, motivated and committed to seeing you succeed.
