The Shogun seminar was awesome! Before I give you a layout of the workshop I would like to say thanks to the following for helping with this event:
Daniel Galluci for his commitment to the Kombat Arts and for setting up this opportunity
David Ledoux for his Guerrilla warfare tactics
Josh Defaria for his patience and making it happen
And all of the Kombat Arts members, staff members and friends that supported this event in one form or another
1st before the workshop, myself, Randy and Josip did a private lesson with Shogun and that was a lot of fun. We covered how to get into the plumm, various tactics in the plumm and how to counter the plumm. Really good stuff. Than we proceeded to work on techniques and tactics to get off the wall. Shogun is a very patient and articulate instructor, it was great working with him.
In the actual workshop we worked on the following techniques and tactics:
Various Thai boxing combos unique to the UDL training methodology
The infamous “Superman” punch and a cool addition to it
How to counter when your opponent catches your kick
Striking and submitting your opponent in the plumm
Striking from the top position crossbody
And finally Shogun’s infamous stomps from the guard
On Monday of the long weekend, Josip and I trained privately with Shogun and we worked on escaping the quarter position, more cage escapes, and mount escapes for MMA. Shogun commented a lot that he really liked our Academy and he also liked Canada; you guys really represented yourselves well. It was a really good experience and we look forward to Shogun’s return. Piks will soon be posted-Jd
