Hello Kombat, my name is Ivano Stellato.  I am one of the instructors at Kombat Arts.  It is my honor to be looking after Joey’s blog for the next little while as my/our friend, mentor and Kru prepares our athletes and the Canadian National Kickboxing Team for upcoming competition. One of the things that makes Kombat so successful in competition is the fusion of multiple styles, thanks to Sifu’s belief in the ideals of Bruce Lee.  Bruce Lee always felt that Western hand-strikes were the best, and so he combined that with the efficient footwork of a fencer, and the kicks of various Eastern Martial Arts.  He also threw in some Judo and Jiu-Jitsu moves for good measure.  And so Bruce Lee has crafted an extremely effective real world fighting system.  In essence, he has crafted a Martial Arts style whose aspiration is to “have no style”.  In the master’s own words, “the highest technique is to have no technique. My technique is a result of your technique; my movement is a result of your movement.” JKD, or Jeet Kun Do, The Way Of The Intercepting Fist, is Bruce Lee’s legacy to the world.  It has been called the forerunner of Mixed Martial Arts, and has been used for decades as one of the best all purpose systems for self defense.  For those of you interested in a real world self defense training, as well as those of you who wish to train in the footsteps of the great Master, I encourage you to take one of Kombat’s JKD courses.  Check out Kombat’s schedule to find a class that works for you. Now back to Bruce Lee.  I recently saw a documentary called, “How Bruce Lee Changed The World”.  Did you know that Bruce Lee was the first to incorporate weight training into his daily regimen.  He could do a two finger push-up ... with one hand behind his back!  (Below are the videos but here’s the link...btw, that’s Jackie Chan talking.)  He had a one inch punch that could hurl a grown man to the floor.  He could leap in from 5 feet away and hit an opponent before he could even flinch.  But even more impressive is what he did to unite Eastern and Western cultures and bring Martial Arts to the masses.  In the past week I have already seen this documentary 3 times and so here is a 10 minute clip I found.  Enjoy.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mJPOW39_4k (Again the videos are below) I just want to leave you with some final words of wisdom...
