Congrats to Canada Cup Winners!

Congrats to Team Kombat as both of our athletes really excelled at the Canada Cup held this Saturday, June 12, 2010 in Burlington. First there is Sahil Sharma.  Sahil, a 9 year old athlete, is being tutored by Brian Naidu in the martial arts.  Sahil won the Gold in point sparring and the Silver in continuous fighting. He dominated his opponent in point sparring winning the match by a 10 pt. spread in the first round.  Awesome work! He had a tough match against a much bigger and experienced athlete in continuous fighting. Both athletes slugged it out but his opponent out scored him in the two round battle. We are very happy with Sahil considering the short time that he has been training in the martial arts.  We look forward to seeing him grow into an exceptional martial athlete. Than there is Rick Stagg who took on Sheldon Spencer from Nova Scotia in the under 75kg low kick tournament.  Rick showed the perfect combination of coach-ability, technique and aggression.  Ricky was able to finally give his opponent a TKO via 3 eight counts.  The referee had to stop the match for Sheldon's safety.  Awesome match Ricky! Thanks to the Kombat Team that helped develop these athletes.  This was the 1st time for both athletes. A SPECIAL THANKS to Dave Edwards who ran a smooth corner with Edgar Obregon and Collin Pinch.  Great work guys!!! jD
