On Saturday June 26, Paul Oddi and his team from Point Blank hosted their amazing Thai boxing show in Newmarket.  We had 3 athletes that competed on this show: Sahil Sharma, David Nocitra and Paolo Dultra Sahil competed in a Continuous Sparring match and showed great poise and respect for his opponent.  Brian Naidu has done a great job mentoring Sahil, and we look forward to Sahil continuing on in the martial arts.  After Sahil won his match he hung around to give his support for the other athletes.  It was cool having this shorty swaggering around the changeroom with the other adult athletes :) David fought his 1st match, in a Low Kick match against a game opponent from Ares.  David did an awesome job with good footwork, head movement and coachability.  David won his match via unanimous decision! Paolo fought a more experienced opponent and had to get an upgrade to fight him in a Thai boxing / K1 match.  Paolo did a great job controlling the outside range, and his opponent did a very good job controlling the clinch range.  In the end the judges decided for Paolo's opponent.  Paolo lost a very close match via majority decision. (2 judges called it a draw, 1 called for the opposition). Even when our athletes lose, we fight with great athleticism, poise and technique.  Paolo that was a GREAT FIGHT.  As Robert Schinke stated, we will use our wins and loses to launch our training for our next fights. For sure I have to give a HUGE THANKS to all of the coaches that helped (thanks Lee, Roberto and Rafael!) and all of the sparring partners. Thanks to Brian and Dave who worked the corner, for like the WHOLE event! Thanks to ALL of the Kombat students who drove all the way to Newmarket to support our athletes.  At times their cheers were so loud, that they clearly drowned out the opposite camps and the announcer. The Kombat Arts Team continues to make me proud, on so many levels, Joey de Los Reyes [gallery link="file" columns="6"]
