Another good night of fights from Strikeforce's "Challengers" offshoot. The purpose of Challengers is to spotlight up-and-comers, to give them a venue of their own instead of always fighting on the dark end of cards where they can get overshadowed by bigger names. Not only is that good for the fighters, it's good for the fans. It lacks flash and drama but Challengers is proving to be an always reliable night of solid bouts. Yesterday was a good night for chokes. The results via Bloody Elbow: David Douglas def. Nick Gonzalez via submission (rear naked choke), round one Ryan Larson def. Erik Apple via submission (triangle choke), round two Ryan Couture def. Lee Higgins via submission (rear naked choke), round three Carlo Prater def. Bryan Travers via submission (anaconda choke), round one Pat Healy def. Lyle Beerbohm via unanimous decision (Image by Esther Lin via)
