A recent post on our friend W.R Mann's REALFIGHTING tumblr blog talks a bit about reality-based self-defense (RBSD) and the art of Muay Thai, giving a shout out to Kru Mehdi of KB-ONE in Vancouver for his useful and functional expertise.

As one of Kru Joey's instructors, Kru Mehdi is a frequent guest here at the Kombat Arts Training Academy, and if you're interested in learning under him in the GTA keep your eyes peeled to this space for news of future seminars. Also, come check out our regular classes; if the marriage between Muay Thai and street defense is something you're interested in, Kombat Arts is definitely the place for you. REALFIGHTING is a great blog on the whole, highly recommended for anyone concerned with RBSD. (And if you're not concerned with that, you have to ask yourself, why not?) Their posts have a MythBusters-meets-Deadliest Warrior vibe to them, with easy to understand deconstructions of martial arts backed by an obvious love for and knowledge of history and science. No exoticism of the arts or political correctness, just common sense. These guys know their stuff. Some cool posts include Myths About the Samurai, Myths About the Mind and Body, The Value of Western Fencing for Knife Work, as well as their ever-growing list of "martial myths." Add them to your required reading list now. Photo source: REALFIGHTING.COM
