Kombat Arts has officially added another awesome Kru to its roster, but instead of new blood it's a familiar face with a brand new ranking. Brian Naidu was promoted from Poo Choi to Kru under Ajahn Suchart Yoderepauprai last Sunday at a special gala event celebrating the birthday of the King of Thailand. It was one of only four Kru promotions to be awarded that night. Kru Joey and Kru Brian were also recognized by Ajahn for their dedication and contributions to Muay Thai's culture and community. From Brian's blog:
The qualification of Kru, isn’t about taking a test. It’s not about becoming a champion. It’s about the dedication of learning and sharing the knowledge the way it was meant to be taught. showing love and respect. Ajahn personally selects the individuals that get promoted each year, and I can’t express how grateful I am for being one of them.Ajahn Suchart is a former Northern Thailand Champion who moved to Toronto in the mid-'80s and has been a driving force in developing the local and national Muay Thai scenes. Last year, he was honoured as one of Canada's Top 25 Immigrants by Canadian Immigrant magazine. Ajahn's motto of "love, respect, believe" perfectly describes Kru Brian's teaching style and personality.
