It's a slow Kombat news week with the club closed, so I thought we could use this time to check out some cool MMA and martial arts programming. Up first is The Smashing Machine (2002), a documentary on retired MMA pioneer Mark "The Smashing Machine" Kerr. Kerr was a two-time UFC heavyweight tourney champ and a regular PRIDE FC competitor. He was known for his superhero physique and devastating ground-and-pound. The film, directed by John Hyams, looks at Kerr's career and personal life and details his addiction to painkillers. There's lots of cameos from big MMA names, including Mark Coleman, Bas Rutten, and Kevin Randleman. Enjoy.
