For the past year, the Council of Amateur Sport Kickboxing (CASK) has been working with a new national committee called AMMA, the amateur mixed martial arts council, to shape, form and regulate amateur MMA and integrate it into the world of established combat sports. The result is an innovative approach that signals big things to come for amateur MMA in Ontario and across Canada. In the above interview, AMMA Council President and Kombat Arts program director Kru Joey de Los Reyes talks about his background in the local MMA community and describes the unique rules that will shape this exciting new sport. For more info on the rules of amateur MMA visit the CASK website. Stay tuned for part two our exclusive interview with Joey tomorrow. (Edit: Check out part two here.)
