Hey guys, what a great event over the weekend! Thanks to Coach G and Jakub Mulik for the photos. Here's Kru Brian with the complete rundown. Kombat Arts was at the Toronto Pro SuperShow this weekend for the first ever amateur mixed martial arts event in Ontario. Kru Joey de Los Reyes and the AMMA board have spent the last year developing the rules and training officials for this groundbreaking event. Over three days, amateurs from as young as 10 years old were competing in AMMA, Low Kick and K1 bouts. Team Kombat was on hand with six athletes this weekend. Saturday night's event had Marco Capobianco and Kunal Pun fighting in the featured show. Marco fought smart and strong and picked apart his opponent to win a unanimous decision. Kunal went all three rounds in a tough battle but lost by decision. Sunday we had Matt Jackson, Sahil Sharma, Nicholas Mazzoli and Danele Osti-Akoto all competing in the final day of the event. Matt was the first out in the Tatami AMMA. Matt won his bout with an anaconda choke in the second round. He was the only athlete to finish his opponent by making them tap out. Sahil was up next in the first bout of the afternoon. He came out strong and fought well, but took a few hard hits and wasn’t able to continue. We are very proud of him. At 11 years old, he and his opponent were the youngest boys stepping into the ring in a full contact bout. Nicolas “the Tank” dominated his fight from start to finish. We don’t agree with the decision but the fight was deemed a draw. However, in our books we KNOW that Nicolas won that fight. Danele was the final Kombat athlete up for the day, and dominated his opponent until he couldn’t continue anymore. Danele stopped him in the second around with a strong knee and won the bout. Congrats to all the athletes. Team Kombat went 4-2 for the weekend. We would like to thank all the coaches, sparring partners, students and family that support our team. We train as a team and fight as a team. Thank you to Lee, Edgar, Colin, Chris, Sean, Jacs, Coach G, Kru Roberto, Kru Dave and Kru Joey for all the hard work. -Kru Brian Check out Jakub's pics from Sunday below.
