Kombat -Old Kombat Logo2 The Original Kombat Logo When Kombat first started out, almost 14 years ago, Tony Venitello volunteered to design our logo and to help with our branding. Tony was one of my top Jeet Kune Do students, a die hard Bruce Lee fan and a very accomplished martial artist in his own right. He was also one of the nation's best graphic designer. We were very lucky to have him design some of our shirts for us back then. We picked blue and gold as the colors, because they looked really good together, especially when you saw some of the sports teams wearing these particular colors. Gold had to be in there, because it was one of the original colors in Bruce's original JKD logo. Gold was usually the color for good luck or good fortune, and I needed all the luck I could get to start the academy. But we didn't want to have red, because back then, EVERYONE had red in their logo...and at the time we were different then most JKD schools. The "K" obviously represented Kombat Arts Training Academy, and it was placed sort of at an angle in the circle. The circle meant continuity, flow, and all that cool stuff. The K was placed at an angle, because we wanted to present an asymmetrical logo; back then, everyone had circles that were perfectly asymmetrical (usually a form of the yin and yang symbol)...again we wanted to be different. The 3 stars symbolized the original 3 owners, and the 3 arrows symbolized the original 3 classes taught at the Kombat Arts: Jeet Kune Do and Kali was in one class. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was the second class. And the third was Kickboxing, which was a combination of Boxing, Savate Boxe Francaise and Muay Thai. Thirteen and a half years later, the logo has evolved to suit the times as has the Kombat Arts Training Academy. Kombat has just passed it's ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY at it's new facility! In that one year the staff and instructors have accomplished A LOT! And we are very thankful for all of their efforts! Thank you to all of the students, past and present for their continuing support! We succeed because of our continuous ability to help each other, to improve ourselves beyond the martial arts. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY KOMBAT ARTS 2.0! Like they say "Same, Same, But Better".
