KOMBAT ARTS was there for the first National tournament and we have pretty much supported all of their Provincial and National Championships. As such we got an award, recognizing our support for these events. KOMBAT ARTS also got an award in recognition of being a member of the CSC for so many years. We had 5 athletes that competed. Michelle Sturino, Kunal Pun, Brandon Lalsingh, B.J. Espejo and Phillip MacDonald, who fights out of Golden Tiger. We won 6 out of our 7 matches. THREE of them by TKO. We walked away with 4 GOLD Medals and 1 Silver Medal. Michelle Sturino fought for the first time with Low Kick rules, and won her match via unanimous decision, becoming the new National Champion. Kunal Pun won his Muay Thai match via TKO in the 3rd round. He stopped his opponent with beautiful body punches. For the 3rd year in a row, Kunal is the National Champion. Brandon Lalsingh fought his first Muay Thai fight on Sat, winning it by unanimous decision. His opponent for Sun morning was injured, and Brandon go a bi into the afternoon. Brandon fought a tough opponent with a very good clinch game; however Brandon was able to stop his opponent in the second round with excellent boxing skills, giving a nice TKO to his opponent. Brandon Lalsingh is the new National Champion. Phillip MacDonald, trains with Golden Tiger; however while he is in school he trains with the Kombat Arts. Phillip won his low kick match in the 1st round via TKO with devastating kicks to the body. Phillip is the new National Champion. B.J. Espejo had two fights in one day. BJ won his first Muay Thai fight via split decision against a very tough opponent. Then BJ fought a more experienced, fresh opponent. It was a very tough fight, with both athletes going back and forth. Unfortunately the judges did not see it BJ's way, and the match went to BJ's opponent. BJ comes away with a Silver medal. We are very proud considering this is BJ's first time in the ring. I am extremely proud of all of our athletes. Win, lose or draw, we always come to fight. I would also like to say thanks and say that I am proud of our: Kru and Coaches. These guys really put the time aside to train these athletes, work the corner, manage the warm up area and all the logistics that come with fighting. Thank you David Edwards, Brian Naidu, Edgar Obregon, Sylwester Organka, Roberto Herrera and Sean Fulgencio. Thank you to all of the sparring partners that put their bodies on the line . We appreciate all that you do for us! Thank you to all of our therapists and Gaetan Boutin from Strong Athlete for keeping our athletes relatively healthy and sharp. Thank you to all of our students who have supported us during the training camp and at the Nationals. You are the lifeblood of KOMBAT ARTS. Thank you KOMBAT ARTS! You make us proud!
