Hi Gang! As previously noted, we will be doing featured "SPOTLIGHT" articles on our valued Kombat Arts Members & family.  This month, we have an interview with our power duo: Scarleth & Brian! Enjoy! Alice :-)

1) When did you and your husband first decide to join Kombat Arts?
I joined in August 2012, I did the one week trial and I loved it! My husband started practicing Muay Thai in 2008 and he was brought in to Kombat Arts by Kru Brian Naidu, but moved away then came back to Kombat.

2) What made Brian decide to join first, and then you joined several years after?
Brian has always enjoyed physical activity and he loved how Muay Thai is intense and a great way to relief stress and it is very useful for self-defence as well, he's also practiced JKD and Judo in the past therefore the affinity with Martial Arts. I joined later because I too love physical activity and Brian convinced me that I was going to enjoy it. I was reluctant in the beginning but like I said, I did enjoy it a lot and it makes me feel good!

3) What is your favourite class and why?
Our favourite class is Muay Thai, we love the intensity and how the teachers incorporate some general fitness aspects like conditioning and exercises to forge a great beach body!

4) How often do you train at Kombat Arts?
We train at Kombat at least 4 times a week from Monday to Thursday.

5) What is your favourite component/aspect of Kombat Arts? (The classes, the instructors, the students, the atmosphere, etc...)
When we first started we weren't really part of the Kombat community, but now that we've both been here for a while we've bonded with many other students as well as with the coaches, they have become our good friends. We also enjoy the atmosphere, people are always trying to help each other improve and the coaches are genuinely making the learning experience as safe as possible. When we go to Kombat, we feel at home.

6) Why should others join?
EVERYONE should join because we can assure you that you'll get fitter, stronger and you'll be able to be part of an awesome Martial Arts community. There are so many different classes to choose from, designed to fit your preferences and to make you sweat, a lot!

7) What benefits have you learned/garnered from being a part of Kombat?
We've learnt that hard work pays off, and that Martial Arts goes beyond the physical aspect. Being part of the Kombat community has also taught us discipline, to respect your opponent but most importantly to help each other improve. Kombat Arts values line up with our personal values and this is why we love it so much here!

8) Is there an aspect to the gym that we could improve upon?
We would like to see more mental training for the students, some of us and I include myself (Scarleth) are still trying to overcome certain fears that come with the sport and I think it'd be great if they addressed that in a more personal way, like giving talks/workshops on sports psychology and such.

Thank you Scarleth & Brian for your time and being such an integral part of the Kombat Arts Family!
