Congrats to Negus Taylor!
Congrats to Negus Taylor who had his debut boxing match this past Friday at the 2014 Ontario Bronze Gloves Novice Championship, held in Mississauga. Negus started off the bout by securing the center of the ring and really popping off that jab. His opponent would try for the next few rounds to get Negus on the ropes and bang away at Negus. Negus' game plan seemed to stay in the center, give some angles and really use that jab. Negus also did a great job of going to the body, and then using the overhand right punch.
The bout went the full three rounds and Negus was declared the winner by unanimous decision! This was a semi-final bout, and Negus was to move to the finals the next day. Unfortunately his opponent was not able to pass his medicals, and according to the rules of the tournament, Negus was declared the 2014 Ontario Bronze Gloves Novice Champion!
We tried to get Negus another match for the evening, just for the experience, but unfortunately no one was interested in going up against Negus.
