[sd_video id="BiLXYvjWGSE" type="youtube"] Congrats KOMBAT athletes! About a month ago KOMBAT ARTS had 16 athletes competing from Nov 10 to the 13.  Sorry it has taken me so long for the write up...we are so busy at KOMBAT.

Here is a Summary of the Results

Boxing

We had 9 athletes in the Boxing Ontario Golden Glove Provincial Championships. Lisette Gonzales got sick and was not able to participate in the 4 day tournament. John Michael Bianco unfortunately lost his first match of the tournament. Jessica Ancheta dropped a very close decision, yet comes away with a Silver medal. Manny Pasos dropped a decision in the first round of the tournament. Caroline Cassin upgraded to a tough division and lost a match against a seasoned opponent. Masood Masad won his first match and lost his second match. A great performance considering this was his first time fighting!  Masood comes away with a silver medal! Justin Parina won his matches in stunning style to win his division and win a Gold for KOMBAT! Savvy Gil wins her match via unanimous decision to be the Gold medal champion for 2016! Pierce Nichols fought all FOUR days, winning a Gold Medal for his division!  Imagine fighting 4 days! Impressive!

Mixed Martial Arts

Kyran Cameron decided to pick up one more fight before he left to train in Thailand.  Kyran competed in the Ace Fighting Championships 6 against a tough resilient opponent from Xtreme.  Even with a bad weight cut, Kyran picked up a unanimous decision.  Despite his performance Kyran exhibited one thing I want from my fighters: mental toughness.  Probably one of the most important attributes of an athlete.

Muay Thai

We had 6 athletes registered for the Muay Thai National Championships held by Muay Thai Canada. In a weird turn of events, ALL of Brandon Lalsingh's opponents dropped out of division leaving him without a fight. Jason Garcha had a walkover for the first day and lost his match on the second day, but still comes away with Silver medal. Gian Carlo Penaherrera won his first match via unanimous decision, lost a close second match via split decision and comes away with a Silver medal for KOMBAT!  Awesome work for his first time fighting. Edward Escubedo won both of his fights by unanimous decision to come away with a Gold for KOMBAT! Dwayne Thompson won his single match by unanimous decision to bring us home a Gold medal. Kunal Pun dropped a close split decision to bring us a Silver medal. KOMBAT walks away with 5 SILVER and 5 GOLD medals!  Amazing results for 16 registered athletes, and 14 actually competing. We are very proud of ALL of our athletes.  All of them trained very hard.  Special thanks to all of our team mates, Matt Embree, Glory Tournament Champion and #1 Contender, Sean Fulgencio, Socrates Celestial, Ryan Nery, Brian Naidu and David Edwards.  Thank you!
