Kombat Arts Brings Home Gold at the 2026 Canadian Savate Assaut Championship

We are incredibly proud to share some exciting news from the competitive Savate world — Kombat Arts Training Academy made history at the 2026 Canadian Savate Assaut Championship, with two of our own walking away with Gold medals.

Coach Anthony Collins and fighter Julien both stood on the top step of the podium, representing Kombat Arts — and the entire Mississauga martial arts community — with excellence. This is a defining moment for our academy and a testament to the hard work, discipline, and passion that defines everything we do here.

What Is Savate?

For those unfamiliar, Savate — also known as French boxing or boxe française — is a unique and highly technical martial art that combines precise hand strikes with powerful, controlled kicking techniques. Unlike many other striking disciplines, Savate fighters use their feet like weapons, targeting with the sole and toe of the shoe for maximum precision.

It is a sport that demands exceptional footwork, timing, coordination, and ring IQ — making it one of the most sophisticated combat sports in the world.

Assaut is the technical sparring format of competitive Savate, scored on the quality, precision, and accuracy of techniques rather than knockouts — making it a true test of a fighter's skill and control under pressure.

Gold at the Canadian Savate Championship

The 2026 Canadian Savate Assaut Championship brought together top Savate competitors from across the country, and Kombat Arts showed up ready to compete.

Anthony Collins, our dedicated Savate coach, led by example — stepping onto the competition floor and winning Gold. Anthony has been a driving force behind the growth of Savate at Kombat Arts, and this championship performance is a reflection of both his coaching expertise and his continued commitment to his own development as a martial artist.

Julien, one of our standout Savate fighters, delivered an outstanding performance throughout the tournament, capturing Gold with a display of technique, composure, and competitive spirit that made the entire Kombat Arts family proud.
