    The tragic loss of Kearn Nedd's life has had a profound effect on the GTA and the martial arts community at large. Thanks to everyone for their sentiments. Yesterday we received an email from a kind observer who linked us to B.J. Penn's Twitter page, where the UFC star had tweeted word of Kearn's story. Thanks to Kelsey for the info and for the heartfelt email. As well as Penn, the blog MMAMania helped spread Kearn's tale to MMA fans south of the border and beyond. Locally, many in the mainstream press deemed Kearn a hero.   • Kru Mehdi stresses technique and simplicity

    Big thanks to Lisa for this write-up on Kru Mehdi's visit from a couple of weeks ago: I like taking Kru Medhi's classes because he keeps the drills simple with high repetitions. I know there is always opportunity to improve technique and the high reps allow me to make the drill natural and fluid. Kru Medhi moves throughout the class and offers suggestions and praise. I also enjoyed the Saturday class he taught because Kru Poo Choi Dave worked into our pairings, so many of us had the opportunity for individual attention -- an unexpected treat for a large class.   • In Loving Memory: Kearn Nedd

    A heartfelt message from Kru Joey: On Saturday evening, myself and a few of the senior students, athletes and instructors received the terrible news that Kearn Nedd was fatally shot. We still don't have all of the details about the situation and frankly we do not wish to speculate or initiate any rumors, as this is a sensitive topic for a lot of people, and we should all remain respectful of Kearn's family and closest friends. It was both fun and quite interesting training Kearn at the Kombat Arts. His antics will be remembered by all his trainers, fellow athletes and members.
