Kombat is on the move! All members please read this important notice

Dear Team Kombat,

They say nothing in life is permanent except change, and they’re right. They also say home is where the heart is, and they’re right about that, too.

With that in mind, here’s your exciting news for the day: we’re moving.

Not far from our current Kamato road location, and not anywhere that will impact you greatly—except for a period of adjustment as we undertake moving a giant gym full of gear and memories. But yes, we’re picking up our toys, packing our bags, and turning to a new page of the Kombat Arts story.

Why? The short answer: our lease is up and we’re on to greener pastures.

The long answer is that we’ve gone through a lot of changes within the last year. Some have been external, with new equipment and new faces and awesome additions to our class schedule. Others have been internal, with a change of ownership at the start of the year that saw two long-time Kombat Arts students make the ultimate commitment to our Team by coming on board and moving into the front office.

In light of all these changes, a change of scenery just feels right.

So we’ll be moving at the end of the month into a temporary location and then into our new home after that (locations and details below). Our eventual new headquarters will enable us to address some of the concerns and suggestions that you, our loyal members and friends, have given to us through polls, questionnaires and locker room talk.

You voiced a desire for:

  • improvements to the change rooms and shower facilities
  • more washrooms
  • new equipment
  • a snack bar
  • a more fully stocked Pro Shop with more kick-ass Kombat gear

And we heard you loud and clear.

The original plan was to start implementing these improvements by late 2013. But the family of a former Kombat student presented us with an opportunity that we couldn’t pass up, even though the result would be this short-term notice and down-to-the-wire move.

It’s a perfect example of what makes the Kombat family special. We’re moving on thanks to an old student, who despite not training with us anymore still carries our core Kombat values and is considered part of our family. “What is past is prologue.”-William Shakespeare

We’ve spent sleepless nights trying to ensure that this transition goes as smoothly as possible so as to avoid any closures. And so while our new location won’t be available until November 1, we’ve obtained the use of a temporary facility for us to use in the interim as our contractor starts renovating our new facilities.

We’re out of this space as of September 30. During October and the first two weeks of November, we’ll be located at Unit #2, 1093 Meyerside Drive. After that, we’ll settle in at our home at Unit #2, 6175 Tomken Road.

Some classes will be affected and some equipment will not be available during this transition period. We humbly ask for your patience.

Bear with us! There will be lots of exciting things coming down the pipeline as the best Kombat year yet continues to unfold. Class schedules for the temporary location will be posted shortly, and directions/maps are below.

Thanks for taking this journey with us and for helping to make Kombat Arts the best martial arts club in Mississauga and beyond. Here’s to the future. Here’s to the present.

Oss!
