Kombat Arts Training Academy in Mississauga, ON.Kombat Arts is very excited to be offering more to their students in 2012.  Each month, we’re inviting you to attend workshops conducted by one of our experts on topics such as nutrition, kettlebells, power lifting, proper nutrition supplementation, and a whole lot more. These workshops will be FREE for Kombat Arts members (space restrictions may apply). All we ask is that you register in advance so instructors can make preparations for you.

Fundamentals: An Intro to Kettlebells + The Kettlebell Swing

Learn the basics and dispel the myths of this great strength tool with Coach JD. Used by ancient strongmen decades ago, the kettlebell has recently been resurrected in the world of strength, fitness and martial arts. In this 1.5-hour workshop, you’ll learn the fundamental movement of this great strength tool — the Kettlebell Swing, along with its design and role in your training program. Bring out the Strength Seeker in you. This workshop is open to beginner and intermediate Kettlebell athletes.

Instructor: Coach Jay de los Reyes (Jay D)

Sacrifice, Determination and Limitless are all words synonymous with Jason “Jay D” de los Reyes and his training methodology.

Blending old school primal training with current science, Jay D provides a safe and progressive atmosphere for any student interested in losing fat or improving their strength and conditioning. Through the use of Joint Mobility Exercises, Barbells, Kettlebells, Indian clubs, Macebells, Sandbags and good ol’ fashioned Bodyweight Calisthenics, it is obvious that Jay D is a Modern Day Physical Culturist who promotes movement as a way of life.

5 years experience in Personal Training with GoodLife Fitness, from law enforcement officers to stay-at-home parents, to combat athletes
5 years of Kettlebell Coaching experience as a Certified Kettlebell Coach
4 years experience of small group/bootcamp training – leading one of the premier Kettlebell training classes in the City of Mississauga, Ontario

Performance Nutrition 101

The primary objective of this educational seminar will be to provide athletes with an overview of sound nutritional principles and practices to help them perform at a higher level. Some of the topics to be covered during this interactive seminar include:

• Proper Hydration
• Food Selection and Preparation
• Nutrient Timing
• Strategies for Improving Body Composition
• Exposing Common Nutrition Myths
• Specific Game Day/Competition Nutrition Strategies

Instructor: Gaetan Boutin, B.Sc Kinesiology, CSCS, CCP

Gaetan is a firm believer that you must balance the mind, body and soul if you want to be successful as an athlete. Gaetan graduated with an Honours Degree in Kinesiology and Health Sciences from York University, and is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), a certified motivational performance coach and an elite performance nutrition expert. He’s worked for many years with elite professional and amateur athletes as well as everyday individuals who want to improve their health, appearance and performance. His techniques are forged through over 15 years of research, testing and application and are based around building a complete balance between the mind body and soul. Through all natural foods, natural movement and natural water (the life blood of our existence), he believes that anyone can become an ultimate specimen.

Gaetan is the head performance coach at Pro Sport Conditioning and a co-founder of Strong-Athlete.com. He has competed in an extensive number of high-level sports throughout his lifetime including kickboxing, boxing, MMA, hockey, football, rugby, CrossFit and basketball just to name a few. Gaetan is all about taking action, doing instead of talking, living instead of waiting and watching. Individuals who work with Gaetan will learn to connect with their inner-self to rebuild their minds and bodies and achieve success.
