UFC Fight for the Troops 2 results

In a very forward thinking move by the UFC, Fight for the Troops’ first four bouts were streamed live via Facebook, with the main card broadcast live on Spike. It was far from the most important card in terms of big picture impact, but still some interesting match-ups.

Waylon Lowe def. Williamy Freire via unanimous decision
Rani Yahya def. Mike Brown via unanimous decision
DaMarques Johnson def. Mike Guymon via verbal tap, round one
Yves Edwards def. Cody McKenzie via rear naked choke, round two
Matt Wiman def. Cole Miller via unanimous decision
Pat Barry def. Joey Beltran via unanimous decision
Mark Hominick def. George Roop via TKO (punches), round one
Matt Mitrione def. Tim Hague via TKO (punches), round one
Melvin Guillard def. Evan Dunham via TKO (knees), round one

  • “Knockout of the Night” bonus goes to Melvin Guillard, “Submission of the Night” to Yves Edwards, and “Fight of the Night” to Edwards and Cody McKenzie.
  • What happens now to Mike Brown? He’s always game and it wasn’t that long ago he was holding WEC gold, but these L’s are stacking up like Tetris.
  • At 32 and still a neophyte, Matt Mitrione is probably too old to grow enough as a fighter and make the climb to the top, but seriously, this guy’s for real.
  • With a five-fight win streak now behind him, I’m really looking forward to Mark Hominick vs. Jose Aldo for the 145-pound belt (hopefully in Toronto). Aldo’s a monster but Hominick brings out my patriotic side. Congrats to the Canuck for stating his strong case for number one contender status.
  • Guillard’s in the title mix now, isn’t he? The lightweight division is nuts.
