Kombat Boxing team brings home 3 first place belts and 2 silver medals at Ringside World Championships
Last week (Aug 18,19,20) the Kombat Arts Boxing team made a trip to Kansas City to participate in one of the largest international amateur boxing tournaments in the world, the Ringside World Championship. 1,500 plus fighters over 3 day tournament. Five fighters participated and here are the results: Mohammed Abedeen - 1st place Belt- Open Class Kareem Hackett - 1st place Belt - Novice Mehdi Abidi - 1st place Belt - Novice Lex Bates - 2nd place Medal - Open Class Ricky Stagg - 2nd place Medal - Novice All the fighters stepped it up and took on the best competition from all over the world. Good job guys! That's how we roll!!! ....

Shawn Tompkins, 1974-2011
Shawn Tompkins, one of the best MMA trainers in the world, passed away on Sunday at the age of 37. Tompkins was a team trainer at TapouT Research and Development Training Center in Las Vegas, and was a former coach for the IFL's Los Angeles Anacondas and head instructor at Xtreme Couture. During his career he trained big MMA names including Wanderlei Silva and Vitor Belfort, and despite his move to the U.S. in 2007, remained one of the major figures of Canadian MMA, coaching Canuck UFC stars Mark Hominick and Sam Stout and Bellator's Chris Horodecki. As an MMA fan, I'll always remember the remarkable way Tompkins coached fighters between rounds, especially during Hominick's recent epic ....
